In 2020, Budiman, alongside Rudi Winata and Yang Yang Hartono, co-founded Jia. Initially launched as a brand offering a collection of homewares, Jia expanded within months to establish Jia COLLECTIVE, a retail space in Canggu, Bali, presenting beautiful products from local designers.

As Jia grew, the team identified the need for a larger platform to showcase creators and their work. This led to the launch of Jia CURATED, an annual, multi-day event that celebrates craft, design, and culture.

Launched in 2022 as Jia Curated Kiosks, an intimate display for design and craft, it was rebranded as Jia CURATED in 2025, testament to its growth.

Over the years it has evolved into a large showcase of work from Indonesian and international exhibitors as well as unique installations from artists and creatives, alongside a programme of talks and events, attracting thousands of visitors.

In 2025, Jia CURATED featured more than 200 brands and attracted over 12000 visitors, and is expected to double in size this year (Bali, 13-17 August 2026).

Budiman’s ambition is to establish Indonesia on the global design stage. As the world’s 4th most populated country, he is on a mission to support the local creative and manufacturing sector in gaining visibility and earning opportunities to grow, connecting creators and communities across the region and beyond.

The priority of building and sustaining a healthy ecosystem of creative communities in Indonesia is what drives the founders to create a platform where instinctual energy and passion can be exchanged. Their approach is guided by three core pillars: craft, design, and culture.
